Emergency Meeting of Baltistan Leaders in Islamabad

Islamabad/Rawalpindi – An emergency meeting of Baltistan’s leading political and social figures was held under the chairmanship of Imam Jumu’ah wal Jamaat, Hujjat-ul-Islam wal Muslimeen Allama Sheikh Muhammad Hassan Jafari.

The gathering brought together some of the region’s most respected personalities, including former Inspector General of Police Afzal Ali Shigri, former Governor Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon, former Justice Wazir Shakeel Ahmed, former Senior Provincial Minister Haji Akbar Taban, former Provincial Coordinator Taqi Akhunzada, Muhammad Hassan Hasrat, and Muhammad Zakir.

The participants opened the session by expressing deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei, describing it as a devastating and irreparable loss for the Muslim world.

They noted that his leadership had long been a source of hope for the oppressed and a guiding force for Islamic unity.

Attention then turned to the fragile situation in Skardu, where protests following the tragic incident had escalated into unrest.

The leaders mourned the loss of precious lives during the demonstrations and voiced regret over the damage inflicted on both public and private property.

Condolences were extended to the bereaved families, with a collective call for healing and restraint.

Speakers underscored the importance of maintaining peace and urged religious scholars to step forward in guiding the community through this difficult period.

They reminded attendees of Baltistan’s proud legacy of patience, tolerance, and patriotism, recalling how its people have consistently defended Pakistan’s geographical and ideological frontiers with sacrifice and devotion over the past seventy-five years.

The meeting conveyed confidence that Gilgit-Baltistan’s civil administration, along with political and military leadership, would act with wisdom and mutual understanding to resolve these temporary crises.

It was further resolved that, if required, appeals would be made to federal authorities to ensure the restoration of peace and stability in the region.

The session concluded with collective prayers for the soul of Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei and for all those who lost their lives in the recent unrest in Gilgit-Baltistan, marking the gathering as both a moment of mourning and a call for unity.
