Ghanche: AKRSP Releases Rs5.5m for Water Channel
GHANCHE: The Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (AKRSP) has released Rs5.5 million for an irrigation channel project in Chorbat Kalan, paving the way for improved water distribution and enhanced agricultural productivity in the area.
The funding was secured following coordinated efforts by Assistant Commissioner Sofia Noor, who engaged with relevant institutions and stakeholders to facilitate the project.
The irrigation channel is expected to address longstanding water shortages faced by local farmers and improve the availability of water for agricultural activities. Residents say the project will help strengthen farming operations and contribute to better crop production in the area.
Officials said the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to improve rural infrastructure and support community development through collaboration between development organisations, local administration and local communities.
AKRSP’s financial assistance is being viewed as a significant contribution towards addressing the region’s irrigation needs and promoting sustainable agricultural growth. The project is also expected to improve livelihoods by ensuring a more reliable water supply for farming households.
Local residents welcomed the release of funds and expressed gratitude to AKRSP for supporting the project. They also appreciated the role of Assistant Commissioner Sofia Noor in pursuing the scheme and helping ensure its approval.
The project underscores the importance of partnerships between development agencies, government institutions and local communities in advancing public welfare and rural development in Churab.
