No Reaction in GB to KP situation

GILGIT: While the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including the reported imposition of emergency and questions surrounding the provincial government’s future, has sparked debate across the country, no prominent public reaction has so far emerged from Gilgit-Baltistan.

Some residents of Gilgit-Baltistan remain focused on local challenges, including unemployment, inflation, electricity shortages, poor road conditions, and gaps in healthcare and education. These issues appear to be among their immediate concerns, while public opinion on the political developments in KP remains limited or largely unreported.

One resident said, “What is happening in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is certainly important, but it is not our issue. Gilgit-Baltistan has numerous problems of its own, and our focus should be on resolving them.”

Another resident said, “These are political matters between the relevant parties and governments. Ordinary people are more concerned about when they will get jobs, electricity and basic facilities.”

A third resident said, “We are not indifferent to what is happening in other provinces, but when our own problems remain unresolved, people naturally focus more on them.”

The official positions of political parties, elected representatives and the Gilgit-Baltistan government on the developments in KP would provide a clearer picture of the region’s response to the situation.
