Mediation training for senior officers held

Islamabad — A two-day training on mediation as part of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) was organised by the International Mediation and Arbitration Centre (IMAC) at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Studies (PIPS) in Islamabad.

The training brought together senior officers and representatives from several key institutions, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Tax Bar Association, Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Ministry of Commerce, NEPRA, and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal.

Technical sessions led by Ata Ur Rehman

Former federal secretary Dr Ata Ur Rehman led the training as the lead trainer. Rehman, who also served in Gilgit-Baltistan in various capacities including Secretary Home, is described by colleagues as a skilful officer with a strong understanding of complex issues and a proven ability to solve problems. He also brings valuable international exposure to his work.

He conducted technical sessions on "Mediation Essentials: Conflict Dynamics" and "Negotiation: Turning Positions into Solutions."

Inauguration and closing ceremony

Secretary of Law and Justice, Raja Naeem Akbar, inaugurated the training. Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, presided over the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates among the participants.
