Campaign launched to enforce SOPs for public transport

Diamer -- The Excise Police at the Thore Checkpost in District Diamer have launched a routine campaign to ensure the implementation of standard operating procedures for Public Service Vehicles and rent a car services.

During the campaign, officials checked vehicle fitness certificates, verified route permits and ensured that drivers possessed valid PSV licences. Authorities also enforced the prescribed fare and freight rates for rent a car vehicles. Vehicles and drivers found violating the rules were penalised as part of the enforcement drive.

District Diamer is located along the strategic Karakoram Highway, the main road corridor linking Gilgit - Baltistan with Pakistan and China. Thousands of passenger buses, trucks and rent a car vehicles travel through the region daily, making traffic regulation and enforcement of transport rules crucial for road safety.

Officials said the campaign aims to improve passenger safety, regulate transport services and ensure compliance with legal requirements along the busy highway.
