KIU Shifts to Online Mode Until March 31
Gilgit — Karakoram International University (KIU) has immediately launched online classes for students and decided to fully transition to online mode until March 31, 2026, in order to ensure continuity of education.
The decision was made in a high-level meeting chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ataullah Shah, attended by senior administrative and academic officers of the university.
After reviewing a special notification issued by the Federal Cabinet Division for educational institutions, it was decided that online classes will continue in accordance with the already existing academic calendar and timetable.
Students have been directed to complete their registration before March 17 and ensure timely payment of semester fees.
In line with the Cabinet Division notification, a rota system will also be introduced for university staff, under which working days will be limited to four days a week — Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday — with three days off.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dr. Ataullah Shah stated that this step is being taken in light of the current global situation and directives from the federal government.
He issued instructions to all Deans, Directors, and relevant officials to make the best possible arrangements for the smooth launch of online classes, ensuring that students face no difficulties in continuing their education.
