DROs for Municipal Corporation Polls

GILGIT: The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan (ECGB) has appointed District Returning Officers (DROs) for the upcoming local government elections in the municipal corporations of Gilgit, Skardu and Chilas.

According to a notification issued by Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan on October 20, Deputy Commissioner Gilgit Captain (Retd) Arif Ahmad has been appointed as the District Returning Officer for Municipal Corporation Gilgit, Deputy Commissioner Skardu Hamza Murad for Municipal Corporation Skardu, and Deputy Commissioner Diamer Lieutenant (Retd) Muhammad Owais for Municipal Corporation Chilas.

The appointments have been made under Section 50 of the Elections Act, 2017, Rule 46 of the Election Rules, 2017, and the relevant provisions of the Gilgit-Baltistan Local Government Act, 2014.

Under the notification, the designated officers will perform duties related to the conduct and management of local government elections within their respective municipal corporations.

The Election Commission said the notification has also been forwarded for publication in the official gazette, marking a key step in the preparations for the forthcoming local government elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
